Program overview

This program is designed for practicing otolaryngologists with a significant interest in endoscopic sinus surgery and management of sinus and nasal problems. The course is a 15 to 30 day one-on-one "Hands-on" clinical experience under the supervision of Dr. Prahlada N.B. Participants also have the opportunity to perform a cadaveric dissection at Basaveshwara Medical College and Hospital and to obtain experience of hands-on Diagnostic procedures and actual surgery under supervision. The course also includes didactic lectures on basic topics. Only one otolaryngologists is admitted at a time for this mini fellowship. This allows for a close one-on-one experience with the faculty. This program is conducted throughout the year on mutually convenient dates with prior appointment.

Objectives

To train ENT specialist to obtain deep knowledge and high competence in routine Otolaryngologic surgeries including Patient Examination, Basic Otolaryngologic diagnostic procedures, Basic surgeries like adenoidectomy, tonsillectomy, Ventilation tube insertion, Septoplasty, Inferior turbinectomy, Rigid laryngoscopy, Rigid Oesophagoscopy, Antral Wash, Excision of general neck swellings etc., . At the end of the training program, the trainee will acquire:-

  1. High competence in the diagnosis of diseases in Oto-rhino-laryngology.
  2. High competence in the treatment of diseases of Oto-rhino-laryngology.
  3. Knowledge of prevention and management of complications of diseases in Oto-rhino_laryngology.
  4. Ability to give education, consultation and suggestion to solve Oto-rhino_laryngological problems to other colleagues, nurses, medical students and other medical personnel.
  5. Ability to co-operate with other medical personnel in the areas of academics and medical administration.
  6. Ability to perform a good scientific research.
  7. Good attitude and relationship with patients and other medical personnel.

  • Adenoidectomy.
