Overview

This program is designed for practicing otolaryngologists with a significant interest in endoscopic sinus surgery and management of sinus and nasal problems. The course is a 15 to 30 day one-on-one "Hands-on" clinical experience udner the supervision of Dr. Prahlada N.B. Participants also have the opportunity to perform a cadaveric dissection at Basaveshwara Medical Colelge and Hospital and to obtain experience of hands-on Diagnostic Nasal Endoscopy and actual surgery under suverpvison. . The course also includes didactic lelcutes on basic topics. Only one otolaryngologists is admitted at a time for this mini fellowship. This allows for a close one-on-one experience with the faculty. This program is conducted throughout the year on mutually convenient dates with prior appointment.

Objectives

Upon completion of the course participants should be able to:

  • Recognize and describe the complex 3-D anatomy of the paranasal sinuses.
  • Learn Radiological anatomy and anatomical variation of paransal sinuses.
  • Identify and assess new technological advances and developments in sinus surgery.
  • Discuss management of difficult and severe chronic sinusitis and understand the role of post-op care.
  • Perform routine nasal endoscopy for the diagnosis of sino-nasal disease.
  • Demonstrate an improved ability to perform surgery of the paranasal sinuses.
  • Practice appropriate handling of endoscopic sinus surgical instruments.
  • Review conventional sinus surgical techniques.
