Program overview

Short term Phonosrugery fellowship training program is designed for practicing otolaryngologists with a specific interest in Phonosurgery and diagnosis and management of various voice problems. The course is a 15 to 30 day one-on-one "Hands-on" clinical experience udner the supervision of Dr. Prahlada N.B. Participants also have the opportunity to perform a cadaveric dissection at Basaveshwara Medical Colelge and Hospital and to obtain experience of performing Phonomicrosurgery and laryngeal frame work surgeries under supervision. The course also includes didactic lelcutes on basic topics.. Only one otolaryngologist at a time is admitted to this mini fellowship. This allows for a close one-on-one experience with the faculty. This program is conducted throughout the year on mutually convenient dates with prior appointment.

Objectives

To train the ENT specialist to obtain broad knowledge and high skill in Phonomicrosurgery and Laryngeal frame work surgery. At the end of the training program, the trainee will acquire:

    1. High skill in the diagnosis and management of voice disorders.
    2. High skill in surgical techniques in the management of benign diseases of larynx.
    3. High skill in the diagnosis and management of Professional voice.
    4. Knowledge on rehabilitation of patients with voice problems.
    5. Ability to give education and consultation in the field of Phonosurgery to other medical personnels and to the public
    6. Ability to perform good scientific research
    7. Good attitude and relationship with other related medical personnels esp. speech pathologist and neurologists.

Cadaver Dissection
  • Done is association with Department of Anatomy, Basaveshwara Medical College and Hospital.
  • Facilities provided: A cadaver larynx and necessary equipment will be provided.
  • Objetive: To study the anatomy of the larynx and laryngeal frame work surgeries.
  • Procedures practiced: Phonomicrosurgery, Medialization laryngoplasty and Arytenoid adduciton procedures.
